Australian wealthy businessman and former chief executive officer of the Sydney-based multinational company Crown Equipment Corporation who had played a pivotal role in the growth of the company in the Asia Pacific region and was involved in one of the country's most infamous crimes that ended with a decade-long fight for justice after his wife Kerry Whelan was abducted and murdered in 1997 by serial killer Bruce Burrell (he was convicted in mid-2006 after a second trial), but who received a ransom note for $1 million at his family property just a day after his wife vanished from the Parramatta ParkRoyal Hotel in the Sydney suburbs during May 1997 with the mystery of her disappearance unsolved.
