Turkish schoolteacher with the education workers' union Egitim-Sen who had been hospitalized in critical condition at an intensive care unit for nearly a week after he was severely injured in the heinous Oct. 10, 2015 twin suicide bombings that killed nearly 100 civilians and wounded more than 500 other people when two suicide bombers linked to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) targeted a large group of people marching for peace and democracy outside Ankara's main train station in the Turkish capital city, in which the incident surpassed the 2013 Reyhanli bombings as the deadliest terror attack in modern Turkish history as the country was preparing for a general election.
