Summary:
Malaysian businessman and hostage negotiator who was among one of the volunteers who were instrumental in helping to secure the release of 21 Malaysians and foreigners from the 2000 Sipadan kidnapping case after he had used his contacts in southern Philippines in several other subsequent cross-kidnappings in Sabah's east coast to facilitate communications with Abu Sayyaf gunmen on Jolo island where the 21 hostages comprising 9 Malaysians, 3 Germans, 2 French, 2 South Africans, 2 Finns, 2 Filipinos and a Lebanese were held captive after they were taken from the diving haven on April 23, 2000 while it was the beginning of many negotiations between the Malaysian government and the gunmen, which led to the hostages' release six months later.
