Summary: Washington lawyer who represented female iron miners in Minnesota in the nation's first class-action lawsuit focused on sexual harassment when he filed a suit against the Eveleth Taconite Co. in 1988 at the time an emerging legal concept, in which the court proceedings and appeals dragged on for 10 years after 15 women settled with Eveleth for a total of $3.5 million in 1998 just as a second trial was to begin.
