Summary: Georgian Orthodox priest and head of the Saint David Agmashenebeli Georgian Orthodox Monastery in the city of Mtskheta in Georgia who was among one of the 13 known fatalities involved in the deadly December 28 MS Norman Atlantic ferry disaster when the Italian-flagged roll-on/roll-off passenger ferry carrying 222 vehicles and approximately 499 people including 12 crew members on board had reportedly caught fire on the car deck of the vessel while sailing about 44 nautical miles (81 km) near the Greek island Corfu across the Strait of Otranto in the Adriatic Sea as the multi-deck car-and-truck ferry was traveling en route from Greece to a harbour in Ancona, Italy after an intermediate stop, in which at least 18 other passengers including two Syrian stowaways were still missing and more than 400 people had been forced to evacuate within 24 hours off the blaze-hit boat during an international rescue operation conducted by the Italian Coast Guard in stormy seas, but the cause of the onboard fire remains unknown.
