Summary: Dutch-born Australian abalone pioneer and director of the commercial seafood company Abalone Fisherman's Co-operative Ltd. who was thought to be the first in the Australian state of Victoria to establish his abalone pearl business in the East Gippsland town of Mallacoota in the late 1990's after having spent 30 years diving in local waters off Mallacoota in the Southern Ocean through his company MAPA Pearls, but who was instrumental in developing the state's abalone pearl aquaculture industry and was recently acknowledged by the 2013 East Gippsland Business Award after winning a judge's special award.
