Summary: lifelong aboriginal rights advocate and one-time chief of the Musqueam Indian Band that once possessed valuable reserve land within the City of Vancouver in the Canadian province of British Columbia who was involved in a groundbreaking landmark Supreme Court of Canada ruling on aboriginal rights known as the Guerin v. The Queen case where the decision first stated that the Canadian government has a fiduciary duty towards the First Nations of Canada recognizing that the federal government must protect the interests of First Nations people and that Indigenous rights were pre-existing before Canada became a country and outlined that aboriginal title was a sui generis right.
