Summary: British Olympic rower who had competed in the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, England as a member of the victorious Cambridge crew in the Boat Race, in which most of the Cambridge crew of 1948 had also rowed for Leander Club at a River Thames rowing event that became known as "the Leander Eight" because they were selected to row for Great Britain in the 1948 Olympic games and won the silver medal.
