New Zealand retired police detective who was the lead investigator into the 1970 murders of Harvey and Jeannette Crewe when he was found by a commission of inquiry to have planted evidence in a homicide case that led to the wrongful conviction of Arthur Allen Thomas for the killings while he was the officer in charge of the homicide inquiry after the Crewes were found shot to death in their home at Pukekawa in south Auckland, New Zealand in June 1970.
