Summary: Canadian euthanasia activist who suffered from terminal Lou Gehrig's disease and became the face of the right-do-die movement as she had fought for doctor-assisted suicide that had been launched by the B.C. Civil Liberties Association, in which the case was fast-tracked because of the advanced stage of her debilitating illness as the B.C. Supreme Court struck down Canada's ban on doctor-assisted suicide as unconstitutional, but suspended her ruling for one year to give the federal government time to craft legislation to comply with the Constitution.
