Summary: Japanese registered nurse who had made national headlines 15 years ago when she had survived and cared for victims of the 1995 Kobe earthquake that killed 64,000 people when a 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck Kobe, Japan while she continued to work as a nurse after her apartment building was flattened in one of Japan's most destructive earthquakes at the time, but who had recently immigrated to Christchurch, New Zealand nearly three years ago and was planning to work with terminally ill patients after gaining her New Zealand nursing registration.
