Summary: longtime bookkeeper employed at the Joplin Stockyards in southwest Missouri who along with 39 other patients from St. John's Hospital in Joplin, Missouri were transported to Springfield for further care during the devastating May 2011 tornado outbreak that struck across Joplin, Missouri and killed more than 150 other people in one of the deadliest tornadoes in U.S. history since 1947 while she was recovering from surgery and was located on the west end of the upper floor when the EF5 tornado struck, destroying her room and the entire end of the floor on which she was seeking cover, who survived the tornado but sustained multiple injuries requiring 18 stitches and further surgery at the triage at Memorial Hall.
