Summary: PhD student at the University of Otago who had recently served as the New Zealand representative for the Turkish think tank International Strategic Research Centre (USAK) and became the lone Turkish national reported missing and feared dead following the devastating 6.3-magnitude earthquake in New Zealand that killed at least 166 people and seriously injured over 1,500+ others during a series of massive aftershocks occurring nearly six months after the September 2010 Canterbury earthquake, which caused major widespread damage across the central Canterbury region in New Zealand's second-most populous city and its eastern suburbs on the South Island becoming one of the nation's deadliest peacetime disasters in 80 years.
