Summary: Danish actor who reportedly inspired Belgian author and cartoonist Herge (pen name of Georges Remi) to create comic book globe-trotting reporter Tintin, who was a stage actor with Denmark's Royal Theater and appeared in 40 Danish films from 1933 to 2000, but his fame came in 1928 when he won a competition organized by a Danish newspaper that wanted to send a teenage would-be reporter around the globe as the 15-year-old traveled to North America, Japan, Siberia, and Germany for 44 days and was greeted by 20,000 people upon his return.
