Summary: aviation safety airworthiness inspector at the Curacao-based Directorate of Civil Aviation of the Netherlands Antilles air transport industry who was among one of more than 18 Dutch foreigners reported missing and presumed dead following the catastrophic 7.0-magnitude earthquake that killed approximately 316,000 people and injured over 250,000 others during a series of severe aftershocks, which caused severe damages to at least 30,000 commercial buildings and destroyed much of the Caribbean island's infrastructure region becoming one of the most powerful earthquakes to strike the country in 200 years.
