Ali Hassan al-Majid
Summary: Iraqi military commander and government minister who was a cousin of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein and became notorious in the 1980's and 1990's for his role in the Iraqi government's al-Anfal campaigns against internal opposition forces that included the ethnic Kurdish rebels of the north and Shia religious dissidents of the south, but who was later dubbed as "Chemical Ali" by Iraqi Kurds for his use of chemical weapons in attacks against them before his capture following the 2003 invasion of Iraq and was charged with war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.
