Summary: French leading neuroscientist and professor of physiology at the University of Paris VII who developed a profound interest in mechanisms of brain aging and in dementia, using a multidisciplinary approach influenced by his experience at the National Institute of Health (NIH) under an INSERM fellowship, who was appointed chief of clinical neurophysiology at Lariboisiere Hospital in Paris, France and published many hundreds of articles in refereed journals, as well as an informative popular book entitled Age of Unreason: Alzheimer Disease and Brain Aging, who was concerned with communicating his research findings to everyone, scientists and the public, as he proceeded to explore the basis of Alzheimer's disease.
