Summary: avid Liverpool football supporter who had suffered from severe brain damage but never regained any consciousness when he was injured in the 1989 Hillsborough football disaster that claimed the lives of 95 spectators during the crush and also left him in a persistent vegatative state as a consequence of which the hospital had applied for a court order allowing him to "die with dignity" with the support of his parents and became the first patient in English legal history to be allowed to die by the courts through the withdrawal of life-prolonged treatment including food and water as a result from a relevant case.
