John Mortimer

Summary: former senior vice president for personnel and industrial relations of The New York Times from 1973 to 1981 who played the dominant role on behalf of the newspaper in negotiations before and during every strike while he was with The Times during the 1960's and 1970's, who was a civil rights advocate who also helped Mayor John Lindsay end a long garbage-hauling strike in New York City in 1968.
