Lorenzo oil

Entry: a mixture of four parts of glyceryl trioleate and one part of glyceryl trierucate; used in treatment of adrenoleukodystrophy.

 

Etymology: Named after Lorenzo Odone (d. 2008), a child with adrenoleukodystrophy, whose family's discovery and support of this agent were dramatize in the U.S. film Lorenzo's Oil (1992).
