Gaucher's disease

Entry: a chronic disease, often seen in several members of the family, in which there is anemia and enlargement of the spleen and liver. Characteristic Gaucher cells are seen on examination of the tissues.

Origin: Named after French dermatologist Philippe Gaucher (d. 1918).
