Friderichsen-Waterhouse syndrome

Entry: blood poisoning associated with a meningitis infection. It leads to hemorrhage in the adrenal glands, collapse and death. It is a rare condition affecting children.

 

Etymology: Named after English physician Rupert Waterhouse (d. 1958) and Danish pediatrician Carl Friderichsen (d. 1979).
