Cushing's syndrome

Entry: extreme fatness, high blood pressure, bluish streaks on the skin, excess hairiness, diabetes, etc., seen in people having overactivity of the adrenal glands or a tumor in the adrenal glands or pituitary gland in the base of the skull.
Etymology: Named after American surgeon Harvey Cushing (d. 1939).
