Anna's hummingbird

Entry: a rather large hummingbird of western Mexico and California, the male being chiefly metallic bronze-green with rose-red forehead, crown, and throat, and a dusky, blackish tail, the female bronzy green above and dull gray below.

 

Etymology: Named after Anna, Duchess of Rivoli (fl. 1829).
